Mayor Steve Williams of Huntington, West Virgina declared March 28 “Andrew Wiggins Day.”

No, not Ender Wiggins (Ender’s original name in the 1977 issue of Analog), but a real person in West Virginia. Andrew Wiggins is a senior basketball player at Huntington Prep. He is labeled by some as the best basketball recruit in the 2013 class. He is currently being recruited by Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina and has not made a decision where he will attend school in the Fall.

We wonder is he’s an ‘Ender’s Game’ fan.

Free ‘Ender’s Game’ Mini Posters at WonderCon 2013

If you’re attending WonderCon 2013 at the Anaheim convention center this weekend, be sure to pick up a free mini-sized ‘Ender’s Game’ teaser poster. The posters can be picked up at the WonderCon Freebie table throughout the show. KROQ will be giving them away on-site Saturday from 4PM – 7PM.

‘Ender’s Game’ fans should be able to find the ‘Ender’s Game’ team wandering around the area the Anaheim convention center.

The ‘Ender’s Game’ film will be released in U.S. theaters on November 1, 2013.

‘Ender’s Game’ Movie Website Launches

Summit Entertainment, the Ender’s Game film production company, has launched a mysterious new website called IF-Sentinel.com.

The home page features the Ender’s Game film’s International Fleet logo along with the text “THE NEXT INVASION IS IMMINENT. STAY INFORMED.”

In the spirit of the ‘Ender’s Game’ film release, Orbit Books has decided to release new covers of the Ender’s Saga. The ‘Ender’s Game’ cover you see below is already available for purchase, but ‘Speaker for the Dead,’ ‘Xenocide,’ and ‘Children of the Mind’ will be released in the United Kingdom and Australia on May 2nd, 2013.

There’s a rumor floating around the nets that the first ‘Ender’s Game’ trailer will debut online this week. We’ve talked to Summit Entertainment and this rumor is very wrong. There is no official release date for the ‘Ender’s Game’ trailer.

The ‘Ender’s Game’ movie will be released in U.S. theaters on November 1, 2013.

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. One ‘Ender’s Game’ fan tweeted ‘Ender’s Game’ producer, Bob Orci, asking when we would see the first ‘Ender’s Game’ movie trailer. Bob Orci confirmed with an enthusiastic “Yup!” that we would see it with his ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. See his tweet below:

While this is vague at best, we may see the first ‘Ender’s Game’ trailer during the previews of Orci’s ‘Star Trek.’ ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ will hit theaters on May 17, 2013. This is still a rumor, because there has been no official trailer release date from the Odd Lot or Summit Entertainment / Lionsgate.

The Enemy’s Gate is Down

This morning, Yahoo! Movies revealed the first ‘Ender’s Game’ teaser poster. Check it out below:

Yahoo interviewed writer and director, Gavin Hood, about the poster. He says,

“This is the high school football field, only it’s in three dimensions. It’s the size of a football field in all directions: up, down, left, right. And the idea is teams jump out from opposite ends of this amazing space and play this amazing game of 3D paintball, almost.”

Edit: Here are some things we noticed about the poster.

1. The battle room gate! Nice touch with the handles.

2.  A clear spherical battle room, different from the original book design.

3. Dragon army logo on the helmet.

4. Those are called “stars” in the book.

5. Check out that flash gun! Who wants one?

6. Battle suits! We’re glad they aren’t as bright as some scifi suits.

7. This null-g warning is reminiscent of a tease from the production blog.

‘Ender’s Game’ film writer and director, Gavin Hood, has just updated the Official ‘Ender’s Game’ Production Blog. He included this image and promised the release of the first ‘Ender’s Game’ one-sheet teaser poster tomorrow on Yahoo! Movies.

Hood writes,

“Ender’s journey of self discovery – his battles with authority figures he does not trust and his development as a leader – are themes I strongly relate to. […] We are now well into post production and the famous zero gravity battle room scenes are looking fantastic.”
