Sir Ben Kingsley is Excited to be a Part of the ‘Ender’s Game’ Franchise

Mazer RackhamEnder’s Game’ Film is “Wonderful”

Collider sat down with Sir Ben Kingsley (Mazer Rackham) to talk about his roles in ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘Ender’s Game.’ In the latter part of the interview Kingsley says,

“It’s thrilling to be part of these [Ender’s Game] franchises.”

Probable ‘Ender’s Game’ Movie Props

Doors and Exercise Cycle

Construct NOLA is a fabrication design company in New Orleans, the ‘Ender’s Game’ filming location. They report some picture of props that may be from the ‘Ender’s Game’ film. The prop below may be a battle school hallway door.

This doorway is very similar to an ‘Ender’s Game’ hallway door design by the film’s art director, Clint Wallace. The original image has been removed, but Darian has recreated the image below. Note the doorway in the background; the niches in the above images are probably meant to lock the door frame into place.

The above image shares similarities of this set photo from the Official Production Blog. It’s probably a wider angle of the set photo.

Also, a company called PiCycle claims their design will be used as a prop in the ‘Ender’s Game’ movie. What you see below is a smart motorcycle-bicycle hybrid. It’s possible that this will be used as a futuristic exercise cycle in the battle room’s weight/gravity room.

Finally, here are some more image from Construct NOLA. While we cannot link them specifically to the ‘Ender’s Game’ film, their design is similar to some of the battle school designs we’ve seen so far. The first image is described as a door and the second image is described as a screen.

Brandon Soo Hoo Talks ‘Ender’s Game’ Book to Film Changes

Fly MoloToned-Down Violence, Aiming at PG-13 Rating

‘Ender’s Game’ movie actor, Brandon Soo Hoo, was recently interviewed by Geek Legacy. Brandon told Geek Legacy that he was a fan of the book and how excited he was when he was cast as Fly Molo. He also noted a few of the book for film adaptions that had to be made, including toning down some of the violence:

GL: How close is the film to the actual story in the book? I understand that some things have to be left out to fit it into a movie, but how much did things actually change from the book to the movie?
B: While adapting the book to a script, our director Gavin [Hood] took much care to keep most things accurate to the book. Though, due to the PG-13 rating, some of the more graphic content was toned down.

GL: How does the movie portray the army? Are there a lot more, a lot less, or close to the same amount of member in the movie?
B: There were actually quite a few Battle School students hired for the film; around 40 or 50. There are probably hundreds in the book itself, but for the production, 50 was plenty.

Brandon also dished about a prank on fellow cast member, Moises Arias (Bonzo Madrid):

GL: Were there any pranks while you were on set?
B: Too many pranks to keep track of. One particularly nasty one involved waking up Moises [Arias, who plays Bonzo] with a mouthful of Tobasco. Moises hates spicy food, so he wasn’t happy about this one.

Asa Butterfield Reveals Mind Game Included in ‘Ender’s Game’ Film

20130423-135115.jpg YES!

In an interview with io9 Ender Wiggin actor, Asa Butterfield, revealed that the Mind Game will be included in the ‘Ender’s Game’ movie. He says,

“Probably one of the hardest scenes for Ender was leaving his sister, back on Earth. I think that’s one of the things that really damaged him. As you can see in the mind game, as well.”

Previous reports told us that the Mind Game had been cut from the movie, but it seems director Gavin Hood has decided to keep it! Who’s excited?

Asa also reveals that Ender’s age has been bumped up to thirteen or fourteen, his stern off-set relationship with Harrison Ford, and how he filmed those frozen battle room shots. Read more in io9.

The ‘Ender’s Game’ film will be released in U.S. theaters on November 1, 2013.
