Ender's Ansible

Happy birthday to Philoticweb.net, our sister website, who has been serving the ‘Ender’s Game’ fandom for 13 years. On June 30th, 2000 ‘Ender’s Game’ author, Orson Scott Card, became the first person to register on their website. Since then, they’ve been personally mentioned in 4 of the books: ‘Shadow the Hegemon‘, ‘Shadow Puppets‘, ‘Ender in Exile‘ and ‘The Authorized Ender Companion‘. If you haven’t already registered there, I suggest sign up and get to chatting about ‘Ender’s Game’!

Ender’s Ansible was founded 2 years ago on June 30th, 2011. (The date is pure coincidental!)

Here’s a few highlights from this year:

July 2012 We interviewed co-author, Aaron Johnston!
Februrary 2013 We released 2 exclusive images from the ‘Ender’s Game’ movie: Petra with Ender and the Rat Army logo. We also started our Beyond Fiction column!
March 2013 We met up with readers at Jimmy Pinchak’s book signing.
April 2013 We attended a panel interview with Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston at the LA Times Festival of Books were we also met up with more of our readers! We were also acknowledged in ‘Ender’s World‘!
May 2013 We did a Google Hangout with producer Bob Orci, director Gavin Hood, Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford.

‘Earth Afire’ by Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston is the second book in the First Formic War trilogy, a prequel series to ‘Ender’s Game’. This week, ‘Earth Afire’ is #21 on the New York Time’s Bestseller list for hardcover fiction.

“I expect great things from her as a producer.” -Gigi Pritzker

The Wrap reported today that Linda McDonough is leaving her position as exec VP of production and development at OddLot Entertainment to produce full-time. She will continue as producer of OddLot’s ‘Ender’s Game,’ which is being released by Lionsgate in November. OddLot’s Gigi Pritzker had only great things to say about McDonough, noting that she “is following her passion” and “has fantastic taste in material and a unique talent for working with filmmakers which has had a major impact on [OddLot].” In a statement following the announcement, McDonough remarked, “It is a dynamic time to be in business with OddLot Entertainment.”

Yahoo! Voices took a look at the estimated net worths of some of the biggest stars in the upcoming ‘Ender’s Game’ film. Calling the film an “epic science fiction movie,” contributor Will Stape noted the widespread anticipation for ‘Ender’s Game’ and examined the financial worth of Harrison Ford (Colonel Graff), Ben Kingsley (Mazer Rackham), Abigail Breslin (Valentine Wiggin), and Viola Davis (Major Anderson). The impressive filmographies of the four stars has led to some pretty hefty numbers with Harrison Ford valued at $200 million, Ben Kingsley at $40 million, Abigail Breslin at $12 million, and Viola Davis at $3 million.
