The Ender’s Game IMDb page has added a few new minor cast members recently. IMDb can be modified by anyone with a paid subscription, and these additions have not been confirmed by the production company, but the cast seems to be getting more complete.
Han Soto has been listed as Colonel Graff’s aide. His acting credits include Blood Out and the TV show Burn Notice, and minor roles in other movies and television shows.
Wendy Miklovic has been listed as a female doctor. Her credits include Bending the Rules and The Relationship Theorem.
Joseph Uzzell has been listed as a medic. His credits include Common Law and Breakout Kings, television shows Wendy Miklovic has also made appearances in.
What do you think of these new cast members and their roles? Do they look like they could work at Battle School?
The Ender’s Game Movie has been pushed back to November 1st, 2013.
Ender’s Game producer Robert Orci tweeted, “dont mean to make you wait a bit longer, but we just got a ridiculously good release date for #EndersGame. Nov 1st, 2013 – thanks 4 input!” This is great movie news. These extra 8 months will allow more film/editing time, more time for publicity and November releases typically fair very well in the box office. The Hollywood Reporter points out that Ender’s Game will open just three weeks before Lionsgate’s sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire.
MTV caught up with Ender’s Game producer, Alex Kurtzman for the the trailer debut of the film “People Like Us” and asked him for a little Ender’s Game movie update. Here’s what he had to say:
“I’m really proud of the work everybody’s done on ‘Ender’s.’ Particularly because it’s a very complicated sprawling book that a lot of people have tried for a very long time to figure out how to make.” Kurtzman continued, “[Director] Gavin Hood, the minute that we read his script we realized that in a miraculous way he’d managed to distill down the essence of the book and the big moves to a very understandable clear format,”
Kurtzman also touched on plot changes which fans have been eager to hear about, “He had made changes that were I think totally protective of the novel, he hasn’t changed any of the plot, it’s just about not being able to put all of it in one movie. He really distills it down to its essence in a beautiful way and that was an amazing thing to see. It’s an amazing thing to see the movie come to life because it’s such a special and different movie.”

The Official Ender’s Game Movie Blog posted a photo today of some of the Battle School boys in a flight simulator at Space Camp. Featured in the photo, from left to right, is Aramis (Bean), Moises (Bonzo), Asa (Ender), and Suraj (Alai).
The post begins:
“‘Houston, we have a problem. We don’t know how to land the Shuttle.’ Good thing it’s just a simulator safely on the ground at SPACE CAMP in Huntsville, Alabama.”

Ender’s World conscripts almost two dozen writers of science fiction, fantasy, and young adult books to offer new perspectives on the 1985 novel, along with insights gleaned from other Ender stories that fit within the Ender’s Game chronology, including Ender in Exile and Ender’s Shadow. In addition, military strategists Colonel Tom Ruby and Captain John Schmitt offer insight into the human-Formic war. Contributions from Aaron Johnson, the coauthor of the Formic Wars prequel novels, and Jake Black, the coauthor of The Authorized Ender Companion, are also included.
The collection’s insightful analyses and moving personal essays are rounded out with short pieces answering more technically oriented questions about the Ender universe, including: Why is the Battle Room a cube? and Why did the military recruit their soldiers as children?
Edited by Orson Scott Card himself, who also provides an introduction to the anthology as well as to the individual essays, Ender’s World is aimed both at readers who have kept up with the many books that came after and at those who have not, but who loved and want to re-visit the original novel.
No publication date or information appears to be currently listed, but an option is presented for receiving email updates.
What do you think? Are you interested in this title which appears, in many ways, to be a companion of sorts to the Authorized Ender Companion? Is that an artist’s rendering of the Battle School on the cover?
A few weeks ago we reported on a parent who questioned the appropriateness of three books in a middle school classroom, Ender’s Game included, calling one or more of the books pornographic. The South Carolina teacher was placed on review while the school district and police investigated the claim and decided whether criminal charges would be filed. Today the Aiken Standard reports that no criminal files were charged and that the teacher was reinstated on Monday.
“After conducting its own investigation, the Aiken Department of Public Safety did not file any criminal charges. Officials said the teacher did nothing criminal and considered the case closed. They offered no further details. No further details were immediately available from district administrators about the decision to return the teacher to class.”
Ender’s Game author, Orson Scott Card, responded to the parent’s pornographic allegations last week. Read Card’s response here.
The Official Ender’s Game Movie Blog has a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set today! You can see a photo from the utility deck of the battle school to the left (click to enlarge). The post begins,
“If you think regular school is tough, try it in a rotating space station. And by the way, do you have a hall pass for hall number 0058? Because if you don’t, you could end up scrubbing the showers. When you first arrive at Battle School, all you perceive is its utility, its functionality… that is until you enter the BATTLE ROOM, where there is no up, no down, and ZERO G’s.”
